What to expect from Korean networks

South Korea's three national carriers run networks that are fast by any standard, and 5G is available well beyond the major cities — including on Jeju, on the main intercity rail routes and in most places a visitor is likely to go. In practice this means coverage is rarely the constraint. Two things are worth knowing anyway. First, indoor signal in large buildings, basements and subway depths can still drop even on a strong network, so a plan you can fall back on matters more than peak speed. Second, if you are heading somewhere genuinely remote, the difference between carriers is more visible in the mountains and on the smaller outlying islands than it is in the cities.
